Yes, the song was 'Another Day in Paradise'. Not sure who got the profits, but I know he was slated at the time because the song was released at a time when Genesis (the band Collins was in) were in the process of evicting a group of travellers from land they owned. I know he has since got involved with homeless charities, however.
i honestly think phil collins is one of the best drummers that the uk has ever produced (mark mondesir aside). although he lives in apparent tax exile in switzerland i do not know how much he has donated to whatever charity (homeless or not) for me to judge him. on the face of it, it is pretty galling for a multi-millionaire to be preaching about "living in paradise" but who knows? i don't.
