Q for Naz about making guitars!

Hi Naz - I have a Q about making guitars because my pet theory is that guitars are not designed for women [women have breasts and it is hard to hold and play a guitar if you have breasts!]... The swollen part of the guitar is to amplify the sound, right? So it could be made in a different shape, I would imagine, that could succeed in amplifying the sound but also accommodate the breast? What I am trying to ask is: is it possible to make a guitar in a different, unconventional shape that would still sound good - and be more comfortable for a woman to play?

Are you talking about an 'acoustic guitar'?
These would generally have a large body which acts as the 'sound-box' for the guitar. A different shape and size do make a different sound.
You can get a thin-bodied, semi-acoustic guitar, this would mean not having to lean over the guitar as far as you would with a normal one.
If you use a strap. and stand up when playing, this will position the guitar low enough to clear any ''obstructions''.
On the other hand, electric guitars come in all shapes and sizes and may be more suitable for women.
I do get you point that guitars were primarily made by men, for men but 'Ruyter Suys' is quite well endowed and doesn't seem to have a problem playing guitar.

Many thanks for your answers. I do indeed obviously mean an acoustic guitar, because an electric guitar does not need a cavity to create the sound, instead relying on an amplifier..
I think the nearest thing are the smaller, typically 'country' acoustic guitars - hmm I will try to find the definition of this model.
