Metallica - One vid

In the Metallica 'one' video (old, I know lol) there are several film clips from (I think) more than one film. I really really want to find the name of the black and white film that appears with a man in a hospital bed with a bizarre mask on, begging in morse code to be killed. I hope someone can help, it's driving me and bloke mad!

the video shows clips from the film " johnny got his gun "written and directed by dalton trumbo.

Thanks, but I thought that was a 1979 film, which wouldn't be black and white? The one I'm thinking of looks 1950's sci fi. How can I see the film you mention to find out if it's the one I mean?

wow I 'googled' the title and it certainly looks like the one, but I was confused by the fact it seemed much older? It seems to be 1971 but I thought it was 50's. Wonder if I can get a copy?

try this link, it will tell you all you need to know. the film was released in 1939 and metallica bought the rights for it just to show the vid.

sorry , the book was written in 1939 not the film.. the film was later , maybe 1971.not too sure.
