Eric Clapton early days

I have a tape (yes, cassette tape!) that i recorded a long while ago which contains Eric Clapton playing the guitar in a band with no singing. The music is fantastic and I like this much more than alot of his commercial stuff. Can anyone help me find which album or band this comes from?

This could have been when he was with Cream - mid 60's with Ginger Baker & Jack Bruce

Not the answer to your question but Eric did a brilliant instrumental version of Willie Nelson's 'Night of the Preacher' for a TV drama called 'Edge of Darkness' about twenty five years ago. It was not on the soundtrack and as far as I know he never recorded it commercially.

I'm with senga it's probably Cream with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, they just used to solo all the way thru every track. Possibly Blind Faith.

Maybe your thinking of the stuff sometimes credited to the 'Eric Clapton all stars', which features Clapton and the young Jimmy Page, theres a host of instrumentals with names like 'Tribute to Elmore', Freightloader', etc. there's about a dozen tunes altogether and they've been repackaged on countless cheapy Clapton compilations on tape and CD over the years.
