Ocean Duller Scene spring to mind as Beatles copyists as do Oasis to an extent. ELO certainly show quite an influence!
An amalgamation of John Lennon and Wings , I would have thought.
Paul Weller certainly seems to be an expert on E.L.O.
Listen to the intro of his'Changing Man' then listen to thje start of E.L.O's '10538 Overture' It's THE SAME TUNE just speeded up slightly!
um... 'The Beatles'..?
I think Mr Weller has got his cart before his horse on this occasion. ELO were clearly influenced by The Beatles - not the other way around! The Beatles, based on their last recorded output, would have continued to do as they had throughout their career, absorbing influences of their own, and releasing groundbreaking music which would have delighted their fans for ever.

When they split they were all writing their own disparate stuff and basically using the others as session men, with a few ideas shared here and there.
So Goldspot is right, you would have got Lennon's McCartney's and Harrison's output from the seventies, but slightly different. McCartney's stuff would have been a little rougher round the edges, Lennon's would have been a tad more 'McCartnified' perhaps. We may even have had 'Mull of Kintyre' with Yoko wailing in the background (who needs bagpipes when you've got her on vocals?).

At any rate I reckon it would have been better than what they each did individually.

The thing is,they where all doing there own thing. If they hadnt of called it a day you would of had mr straight laced mccartney settling down, harrison turning into a buddha and lennon fighting wars and being all political,i think it would of been a disaster.
There was an album in the mid 70's called 'Klaatu' by 'Klaatu' which allegedly contained the backwards hidden message "it's us.... the beatles", it caused quite a stir, especially in the states - and made quite a lot of sales for Klaatu off the back of these rumours - one track in particular sounds very like macca (wings) of that time - almost uncanny, but a lot of people at the time thought it really could be them, so maybe thats how (or how people thought0 they would sound in the 70's - i personally see only a vague similarity - it is slighty (and i stress SLIGHTLY) Abbey roadish. Who knows maybe it was them afterall!!! i think not!
