Not everyones cup of tea I know, but can anyone recommend an album by him. I've looked on Amazon and he's done over 20 so can't think which to buy...Doesn't look like he's done a greatest hits album.

I seem to remember one called "Down and Out in an American Diner" or similar, which was pretty good.
You absolutely need Rain Dogs as a first port of call. I'm also very fond of Mule Variations.

Thanks people....Keep your selections coming...I'll go with the most popular

Swordfishtrombones and rain dogs (similar albums from a similar time) but a friend of mine loves the small change album.

Raindogs and swordfishtrombones..My first Tom CD was Mule Variations. What a brilliant song writer.
definatly 'closing time'.. very hard to beat.. however his recent one 'alice' is promising but a lot darker
