Hi there! My flatmate got an iPod Nano for Christmas with songs already added. We installed the disc onto my computer (windows XP) and iTunes and Quicktime show up on the desktop, but will not launch. The computer recognizes that the iPod is plugged into the ISB port, but we can't get into it to manage music...adding, deleting..nothing. Can anyone suggest anything to help?

Thanks in advance!

do they give any message when not starting up?

what service pack are you running? (if you don't know, right-click my computer, and click properties. it'll say win XP SP1 or SP2...)
Question Author

I checked where you told me and found I was running Service Pack 1. Someone else told me to download service pack 2 from microsoft, so I attempted to download 'Update for Windows Service Pack 2 (KB884020)' and it began the download with no problems. However, an error message came up saying 'Setup has detected that the version of the Service Pack installed on your system is lower than necessary to apply the hotfix. At minimum, you must have Service Pack 2 installed.'

Isn't that what I was trying to do??

And no message was given trying to start up iTunes.

Run Windows Update from here

It will find all the updates that are needed for your PC including Service Pack 2

I was going to suggest just what has been suggested above (twice, it seems). Make sure you open it with internet explorer though.
