After the tragic loss of David Bowie, who is now left from 60’s “UK” music, that are still making a contribution /change in word music?
Stones, McCartney, Van Morrison - who would you add?

^^^ I agree that Elton John can't really be considered part of 60s music but, for the pedants, this is from 1968:

Bowie wasn't a 60s artiste. Ok, he was in bands but he was nowhere near the big time. Elton was gigging in the 60s.
237SJ, Dave Gilmour is still knocking around in his recording studio down the road (or rather the river) from here.

I'd be so annoying even with a restraining order. ;-)
>>> Bowie wasn't a 60s artiste

An excellent point, Z-M, and particularly important here as Milvus seems to have assumed that he was!

OK, he did just sneak in at the end of the 60's

but he's probably musically closer to 70's artistes, such as Elvis Costello, than to the Beatles or the Rolling Stones.
he released Space Oddity in the 60s though it took several years to make number 1 (it did win an Ivor Novello, though). Come to that, I remember Love You Till Tuesday even before that. So for me he was a 60s artist but only just.

He never really made anything as good as Laughing Gnome again, though.
Donovan.
So you agree with me Chris, the thread is a bit daft.

ZM David Bowie and Space Oddity albums released 1967 and 1969

I also saw him as David Jones in Forest Gate 66/67. Lotus Rooms I think
actually, the singer of the very first UK record to make number one in the USA is still around - not necessarily performing, though.
November 4th 1969. Mmm.

Chatterbank is all about daft threads, Z-M ;-)
Arrrr, it be that.
Question Author
Why is it daft ZM? It's just a memory placard for those still making great music. Even if your memory is not that accurate like many of us these days :)
a) because it's been pointed out that there are loads of surviving 60s artistes
b) Bowie wasn't really a 60s artiste.
Question Author
Lighten up ZM. of course there are many still surviving and still performing (though not many mentioned here, loads still left). Bowie was a 60's performer. I saw him, many others did too.
As ever there was, what you want to be left. Time never stands still, thankfully,
