Vocal Removal From Song

Just wondering if anyone knows how to remove vocals from a song so you are left with just the music.

if you google "remove vocals" or something similar, you'll find a number of programs that purport to be able to strip vocals from recordings.

however, none of them are terribly effective, and the best results i've heard always have a ghost of the vocal still audible.

many artistes produce instrumental versions of their work - if you google the name of the track you want, plus the words "official instrumental", you may find what you seek.

Another option is karaoke-version.com where you can download very accurate cover versions with or without vocal. You can go as far as downloading individual instruments (especially useful if you’ve got multitrack recording available to you). Songs generally cost about £2.50 which is peanuts for the quality you get. Not 100% guaranteed you’ll find the song you’re after but they seem to have all but the most obscure stuff.
