Hello everybody, can anyone help me find the title of this song. It would have come out in the 70's 80's and is about an English soldier in Ireland. The song tells the story of a soldier in a railway station when a bomb is thrown through the window. The soldier throws himself on top of the bomb to protect the Irish in the station. Cant remember anymore but it's bugging the missus.

The link may not work - just type it in and should be ok

I have this record, it was banned in this country, and probably still is. a member of the UDR got it for me while I was on a tour of Derry in'73', its title is 'Soldier'. and sung by Harvey Andrews.

In a station in a city, a British soldier stood,          talking to the people, if the people would,                    some just stared in hatred, others turned in pain,       and the lonely British soldier, wished he was home again.

If you want the rest, let me know.

This was asked on AB a few months ago. (That's not me having a moan by the way, I was just surprised, since it's quite an old and obscure song !!)

It's called 'The Soldier' by Harvey Andrews
