The BBC have to be shown to be taking a stance, and if the situation is as has been reported, then they are right to do so.
However, anybody thinking this is the end of Clarkson on Top Gear are deluded fools.
Top Gear is the BBCs Golden Goose, and most, if not all, of the success of Top Gear is down to Clarkson.
If they sack Clarkson, and try to continue with Top Gear, it will fail.
They know that, so they won't do it.
I'm always amazed at the humourless who walk amongst us who hate Clarkson so much. Those that do must have to go out of their way to read what he writes or watch what he appears in, and if they are doing so, then they are idiots. It really is very simple, if people hate him so much, don't watch Top Gear or buy The Sun on Saturday, The Sunday Times, Top Gear Magazine or any of his books. If the people that hate him so much don't do any of these things, then why would they hate him so much? Its just, well, odd and a bit pathetic.

Lot of fuss over a storm in a teacup, with posters elswhere on AB using words like hate etc. An enormous amount of vitriolic bile over a TV presenter.
The main thing to remember is that the BBC needs Clarkson, Clarkson does not need the BBC. Were he to leave I could see the Hammond and May leaving too.
The whole dynamic of the programme would change and the thing simply wouldn't function.
I believe Clarkson owns the rights to Top Gear. He would have rival companies falling over themselves to broadcast the programme.
Love him or loathe him the BBC would kill the goose that laid the golden egg were he to be sacked, so someone at board level in the ultra-PC BBC needs to sit back, take stock and think long and hard about what they're about to do.

Is that so Retro ? In which case the BBC has to either take the loss, or work it out with him. Clarkson himself is going to be less fussed then. Probably made enough to retire umpteen times over anyway. You know what a gold mine the entertainment industry can be for those lucky enough to win through.
If it was the usual Producer, Andy Wilman, they've known each other for years,
///After the original Top Gear was cancelled by the BBC, Wilman and his fellow ex-presenter Jeremy Clarkson pitched a new format and succeeded in getting permission for a new show. Apart from Top Gear, Wilman has worked with Clarkson on a number of other television projects. Wilman and Clarkson were both educated at Repton School///
So there has to be a certain amount of doubt at what actually occurred, and more to the point the reasoning behind it.
