Hey!! I'm finally getting a car, not till the end of October tho. Anyway, I've just been looking at insurance websites and when you try to get a quote online it asks: Do not have any of the following occupations:Performer or presenter in films, TV, radio, music; Professional model; Professional sportsperson.

Why is this? Do celebs get cheaper insurance or something?

Quite the opposite - it is more expensive. The thinking behind it is that one of these people could have another celeb in the passenger seat - say, for arguments sake, Rio Ferdinand was giving Wayne Rooney a lift to a, ahem, massage parlour, and Ferdy caused an accident en route which left Rooney unable to play football ever again. Now, under the Road Traffic Act, injury to third parties must be covered under a motor insurance policy with unlimited liability - therefore, Rooney's claim off of Ferdy's car insurance could, and most likely would, run into tens of millions of pounds in lost earnings.

Ahh, I was ready to have a rant about how rude it is that celebs getting cheaper insurance!! lol! I get it now. Thanks Ding Dong!

P.S: Loving your scenario...Rooney going to the parlour haha!!

You don't even have to be a celeb.  I used to run a theatre that was owned by the council.  When I got insurance quotes I remember there being a big difference between being a council officer & a theatre manager.  I can only assume that working in the ents business somehow means you're more likely to be drunk or tired when you're driving home maybe?
Try getting insurance when you tell 'em you're a professional musician.................
Mechanics used to be charged more for insurance (I don't know if that's still the case). Although being a mechanic should mean the car would be well maintained, the insurance companies looked at it along the lines of "they will know how to soup up their cars and make them faster and more powerful"

Landlords of public houses pay high insurance as insurance companies see them as people more likely to be drinking with the stuff all around them. I believe certain professions (e.g doctor, police) are charged more as their jobs are highly stressed and it's likely they will drink or drive will under stress.
