Okay, so I couldn't think of an interesting new question title, but how many monkey songs have you got in your record/cd collections? Proper ones, such as 'Monkey gone to Heaven' (Pixies), 'Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my Monkey' (Beatles), 'Shock the Monkey' (Peter Gabriel), etc... At last count I had about 6, but can't remember the rest of them right now... I was thinking of putting together a CD compilation...

And if anyone thinks they can help with the marketing of this concept, I'd love to hear from you... which labels might be interested, for a start??

Damn, Yanet 77, you should win some kind of prize for that! I'm truly blown away by the majesty of what you have achieved!! I shall proceed at an early opportunity to fill my ipod shuffle with your suggested monkey playlist... thank you, I love you! Sorry, have I gone over the top??
No problem... hope you enjoy them. btw: It was called "The Best Monkey Album In The World... Ever" (incase you decide to market it!)

i know it doesn't fit the criterion perfectly, but i would love for "Ape Man" (Kinks) to be given a tip of the hat in this stream.

just because it's fantastic.

I know that sounds a little desparate, but well, monkey see, monkey do... :-)

I was just gonna say I haven't got any Monkey songs and then saw "Monkey" by George Michael listed on here, so if I had said that, I'd have been lying! <oh the shame!>
You'd have to include "Can your monkey do the dog?" by Rufus Thomas. It's on the "Can't get away from this dog" album. Brilliant.
How about "Monkey on my Back" by Aerosmith, and of course the already mentioned "Me & My Monkey" by Robbie Wiliams
