Took a cold call the other evening from an Indian gentleman claiming to be from British Gas enquiring who my electricity supplier was. For this exercise let's call him Sandeep.

Sandeep: Begging your pardon sir, I am calling from British Gas. Where do you get your electricity from?
Me: I get it from the plug point
Sandeep: Begging your pardon again sir, who do you pay for your electricity?
Me: I wired my house to the lamp post. It is fantastic value as the electricity doesn't cost me a penny.

Haven't had any cold calls since.

Ooooo...I like it......☺
lol
This should be in jokes...
Good plan! :o}
why are they "taught" to use an English name, no way are they called Bob or the ladies Margaret when they have a hard to understand "good gracious me" accent ?, I usually say when you can remember what your real name is give me a call back.
Gness...we could do that...save a fortune !
Power to the people! ;-)
We have calls like that ever since we dumped British Gazprom for First Utility. I suspect that what happens is that these people harvest details from people who switch supplier. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if uSwitch sell on your details.
Of course if you haven't recently switched supplier then it probably is not the reason.
