im thinking of making a cd to send to my ex girlfriend as i want her back. please could you give me any suggestions to what songs i can put on it that are about wanting a girl back or missing someone. they can be of any genre but indie rock ones would be the best. "unheard of" album tracks or unreleased songs would be good but any will do. thanks in advance

Air Supply - All out of love ??
Oh, and good luck mate. = )
Player --- Baby come back

Off the top of my head I would suggest "I Need You Back" - Ben Kweller, which is indie rock and is lyrically about missing a girlfriend, so is spot on.

In addition, if you can get hold of it "I Threw It All Away" by Yo La Tengo - a great cover of a Bob Dylan track about losing someone you love due to your own mistakes. In fact, choose anything off of the greatest break-up album of all-time, Dylan's "Blood on the Tracks". But perhaps that's a bit old...

Aerosmith- 'I dont wanna miss a thing'

Boyz II Men- '4 Seasons Of Loneliness'

Make sure the CD has a vomit-proof case!

Oh go on then! Take That / Robbie's Back For Good.

OK, you want total cheeziness???????

Gotta try Dr Hook's If Not You.......it's lovely, I gotta tear in my eye thinking about it!

Off for a blub now :-(

Blame it on the Sun and Rocket Love by Stevie Wonder.

Outta Hand - Dinosaur Jr

The Trees - Pulp

On And On - Longpigs

Ego Tripping At The Gates Of Hell - The Flaming Lips

I Must Have Been Blind - Brendan Perry or Tim Buckley

You're My Queen - Mercury Rev

Thinking About You by Ash.

It's on the Cosmic Debris B-sides CD on their best of, Intergalactic Sonic Sevens.

All I Want Is You - U2

How about David Bowie's "Everyone Says Hi" found on his "Heathen" CD. Quite beautiful and apt.

Said you took a big trip
They said you moved away
Happened oh, so quietly
They say

Shoulda took a picture
Something I could keep
Buy a little frame
Something cheap
For you

Everyone says hi

Said you sailed a big ship
Said you sailed away
Didn't know the right thing
To say

I'd love to get a letter
Like to know what's what
Hope the weather's good
And it's not too hot
For you

Everyone says hi
Everyone says hi

Everyone says
Don't stay in a sad place
Where they don't care how you are
Everyone says hi

If the money is lousy
You can always come home
We can do the old things
We can do all the bad things
If the food gets you leery
You can always phone
We could do all the good things
We could do it, we could do it,
we could do it
Don't stay in a bad place
Where they don't care how you are

Everyone says hi
Everyone says hi
Everyone says hi
And the girl next door
And the guy upstairs
Everyone says hi
And your mum and dad
Everyone says hi
And your big fat dog
Everyone says hi
Everyone says hi
Hi hi hi hi

What about this little known Beach Boys classic "Forever".  Sung by a gruff Dennis Wilson. One of the most beautiful tunes ever pegged. If not familiar with the BB's music this is NOT a car/surf song.

If every word I said
Could make you laugh
I'd talk forever (together my love)
I ask the sky just what we had
Mmm It shone forever (together my love my my my my my my my my my my my
my my)
If the song I sing to you
Could fill your heart with joy
I'd sing forever (together my love my my my my)
Forever
Forever
I've been so happy loving you

Do do do do do do do do do together my love

Let the love I have for you
Live in your heart
And beat forever (together my love)
Forever
Forever
I've been so happy loving you

Baby just let me sing it my baby
I wanna be singin' my baby
Baby baby baby my baby
I wanna be singin'
I wanna be singin' my baby
Oh oh oh oh
My my my my my my

So I'm goin' away
Mmm but not forever
Na na na na
I gotta love you anyway

Forever

Love Letter - Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds

I hold this letter in my hand
A plea, a petition, a kind of prayer
I hope it does as I have planned
Losing her again is more than I can bear
I kiss the cold, white envelope
I press my lips against her name
Two hundred words. We live in hope
The sky hangs heavy with rain

Love Letter Love Letter
Go get her Go get her
Love Letter Love Letter
Go tell her Go tell her

A wicked wind whips up the hill
A handful of hopeful words
I love her and I always will
The sky is ready to burst
Said something I did not mean to say
Said something I did not mean to say
Said something I did not mean to say
It all came out the wrong way

Love Letter Love letter
Go get her Go get her
Love Letter Love letter
Go tell her Go tell her

Rain your kisses down upon me
Rain your kisses down in storms
And for all who`ll come before me
In your slowly fading forms
I`m going out of my mind
Will leave me standing in
The rain with a letter and a prayer
Whispered on the wind

Come back to me
Come back to me
O baby please come back to me

And it's a beautiful song.

loving you is easy ( cause your'e beautiful)
not indie but very loving and easy going. by minnie ripperton

good luck fella
Don't knock this until you have heard it!   Get hold of a copy of a very unusual, out of character song for Kiri Te Kanawa, called 'The Heart is Slow to Learn'.   It was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and sung by Kiri, at his 50th birthday bash at the Royal Albert Hall.  I know the video/dvd is still available in uk...cd in a three parter from US.  Not indie, but by gosh it gets the'heart strings' going.  The words say everything!  Difficult to get hold of but, I defy anyone not to shed a tear on hearing it....and it must be THAT version  by Kiri...her heart and soul goes into it.   It is a song that transcends music genres, and one in which one can 'see, one's own situation, and it applies to many so many emotional   boy/girl situations.   I hope you can access the 3 parter US cd...it is available for import. I can guarentee that one song will have you back again together.   Best wishes Kate22
Try "Out By My Side" by Shed Seven.  It's on their album "A Maximum High".  It's perfect and very non-cheesy.
Indie Rock you say?

Losing More Than I'll Ever Have by Primal Scream.

Not too well known, but it's actually the basis for their classic Loaded song so you should recognise it.

Lyrics might not suit why you split up though :

Still Life by Suede. A beautiful song. Not really rocky, but beautiful.

And To The End by Blur....
