It's Step On by Happy Mondays, which is a cover version of the John Kongos song "He's Gonna Step On You Again"

What ?

Well, firstly, I blame you guys for this endless loop of Happy Mondays' tunes I got revolving in my head. You're twisting my melons!

I always feel like I'm revealing some dark murky secret when I reveal my affection for Blur, but I really did love them during that era. 'Girls and Boys' was the first thing I saw...on the 'Word' I think, and I was blown away. "Streets like a jungle, so call the police. Following the heard, down to Greece, on holiday. Love in the 90's...." The bass and lead guitars were constantly trying to mess with each other's rhythms, which is were that crazy riff comes from.

Hands up those who like Happy Monday's and Blur and who also like Oasis. Not many, I presume.

I've heard 'Twisting the night away' & even 'Twisting by the pool', but 'Twisting my melons' ?, can't seem to lay my hands on that one, I must learn to keep abreast of today's music. Perhaps you could enlighten me MargeB !

:-)

Yep, it's from the first few lines of 'Step On':

"You're twistin' my melon man, you know you talk so hip man

You're twistin' my melon man....

kkkkkkkkCall the coppppppppps!"

I believe the phrase came from Steve McQueen via Norman Wisdom. It means 'screwing with my head'. Must remember to throw that one into conversation more.

personally, i preferred the happy mondays in their wrote for luck phase. step on ruined it all for me.
