What's the name of the CD you have it on? I use this site

http://www.discogs.com/

for things like this. I've done a search and the only Marcia Ball I can see on there has seven albums and there isn't a song called Down The Road on any of them. Can you give us a little more info?
The song is on youtube but only from a live concert
I also can't find the lyrics.

Have you seen the clip of her playing Professor Longhair's Red Beans to a very admiring Clint Eastwood?

Hi, The CD I have is called 'LIVE! MARCIA BALL DOWN THE ROAD'. The song is definitely called 'Down the Road'. It also contains 'Big Shot' 'The right tool for the Job' 'Just Kiss me' 'It Hurts to be in Love' etc etc.
I've got it in my ITunes library and it is titled (Good Times) DOWN THE ROAD
but I still can't find a link to the lyrics under either name - Pity, good song by
good artist.

Hi Kayakamina! Yes it is a GREAT pity cos I'm to sing it at a 'jam' session in 3 weeks! HELP! It's the 3rd verse I'm havin the most trouble with - something about 'Blues ------- Horn'?! Headlights comin thru the fog?! Sirens screamin on a one way lane street, I can hear it from my bedroom 'screen (?) THEN WHAT?!
Hi potty

Sorry I've listened to the verse 3 times and can't make it out - something about a cheap motel.
I'm sure you'll be fine if you have a stomping boogie woogie piano backing you.
Good Luck.

Hi, I'm ok on the piano but tryin to make up words that SOUND like Marcia Ball's words at the same time is going to be great FUN!?!?! I suppose if people enjoy the music it doesn't matter what words I rattle out! Shame tho'. Thx for all yr help. P.
Potty... does she have a website with contact info? I've usually found artists to be very helpful with this kind of thing.
Question Author
Thx The Builder, This site gives you her gigs but not a contact no: Thx anyway. (Wish I lived in America so's I can get to see her 'live'!)
That's unusual, Potty. Maybe send a request via her agent. There's a form for questions here..............

Thx again |The Builder, Apparently they won't give out the info I need. It's more for Talent scouts, at least that's what it seems.
You may be able to make out more from the studio version.
My hearing isn't good enough to help, I'm afraid.

Thank you wordist! i managed to get nearly all the words except the 6th line in the very last verse. I think the preceding line is' Wishing I could take a 'walk' away' the next 6 or 7 syllables are a blur followed by 'Keep on going thru the open sea' (I thinK!)
Could it be: "keep on going down Galveston way"?
Question Author
Hi Wordist, I'm not so sure about that tho it might fit in. What does it mean anyway?!
Question Author
Hi Wordist again! It's definitely Galveston BAY, a place in Texas. I may ad lib 'But they 'tries' on at Galveston Bay' & hope nobody listens to close! Thx for all your suggestions.
Happy to have helped.

Good luck at the jam!
