I have a JCB SO53 3LE Lawnmower, COMBI 46 S, I think the engine is a Honda GCV135.
The cord broke so I replaced it and it starts first time every time but it won't run when the clutch is released. I have tried the choke on low (tortoise) to high (rabbit) and in between, but no matter where I position it, it cuts out every time that I release the clutch so I am hoping that some of you brainy A.B'ers can help. Many thanks in advance

Isn't it supposed to cut out when you release it? When I mow I have both bars to the handle.

Thanks coccinelle, I know that the blade brake lever has to be held to the handle but the other lever is the clutch so I thought this was supposed to be released to give power, but I'll give it a try the way you say and see what happens. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
