I can't help without using the word "soundcard" but I've tried to keep it simple !

Your soundcard is the "hub" of audio on your computer. You will see on the back of your computer the sockets into which your speakers will be plugged - this is the visible element of your soundcard. Alongside the speaker outputs should be another socket which is the INPUT - this is where you will need to connect your guitar - you may need a jackplug adaptor to convert the standard guitar jack to the correct size for the INPUT. Good Luck.

It might work better if you plug your guitar amp into the line in socket on the back of your PC (that's the soundcard, and it your PC makes noises it will definately have one) rather than the guitar itself.
