Does anyone have any idea which singer's debut album made the charts in 1984 despite being less than 16 minutes long? I have tried various sites that list debut albums year by year and give recording times and have gone back to 1982 in case it took a while to chart. This is a very short amount of time for a full album, which would surely have been well documented. Am I missing something obvious?

i would think the artist was in dispute / spat dummy with record label.
goerge michael style perhaps?
I don't know it off the top of my head, but there's a fair chance it's one of these: http://en.wikipedia.o...ory:1984_debut_albums
That's probably it, though it is actually (just slightly!) longer than 16 minutes.

Great album, though :-)
Actually, discounting the spaces between the tracks, it's 15:57, so that'll be the one...
I just read that an album can't be called an album unless it's at least 20 minutes long. Surely this is rubbish?
I feel sure you can call it what you want. "Rip Off" probably being favourite.
Hmmm. I just double checked and it says that an album has to consist of 3 or more tracks and has to be more than 20 minutes to qualify for the UK Album Chart.
the Best ofCliff Richard album is even shorter length lol
Ah qualifying for a chart may be different. IMO if there are multiple tracks, it's an album.
