ELO my faves too, also Slade, Sweet, Smokie and a lot of the early 70s stuff was fantastic, Middle Of The Road and 60s carryovers Marmalade and Tremeloes, what fantastic days growing up and knowing all the songs and following TOTP every week without fail. In my quest to own them all I spent all my money on records and now have over 100,000, what wonderful pleasure...

HELLO MARK, goodbye mark.
It depends upon your definition of 'best'. I've been looking at the list here:
http://www.digitaldre.../best_artists70s.html

If you're seeking musicians of quality, who really added something new to the music scene, then Pink Floyd, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Elvis Costello & The Attractions, and Deep Purple (among others) ought to be near to the top of anyone's list.

But if you want to know who I simply enjoyed listening to most, then Roxy Music might top my list!
Ohh, ohh, Tom Petty definitely!
How about this one?

Agree re Tom Petty. If you don't have the remastered "Damn the Torpedoes", then you really should...
Great selection there Ann86...........Karen Carpenter's voice was awesome.
Yes craft - but even better groups in my era - the 60s!
er Ann as I first got married in the 60's I may have been there............
One of my Dad's favourites Nungate :) He saw them at the first Knebworth if I remember correctly :)
