This is one of my faves. From Pinball Wizard by The Who.

Ain't got no distractions;
Can't hear no buzzers and bells.
Don't see no lights a-flashin';
He plays by sense of smell.
Always gets a replay,
'N' never seen him fall.
That deaf, dumb and blind kid...

... Sure plays a mean pinball!

...don't look back in anger...oasis

Slip inside the eye of your mind
Don't you know you might find a better place to play
You said that you'd never been
But all the things that you've seen will slowly fade away

'Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey' from the song of the same name by The Beatles.

the body by public image ltd :-

when you run around without precautions

you'll get diseases,need abortions

up till now no vaccination to give you back your reputation

Radiohead - High And Dry

two jumps and a week
i bet you think that's pretty clever, don't you boy
flying on your motorcycle
watching all the ground beneath you drop
kill yourself for recognition
kill yourself to never ever stop
you broke another mirror
you're turning into something you are not

Lloyd Cole - Down on Mission Street.

"Some say that you may soon be leaving town

Do you tire of chasing old women around"

Radiohead - Exit Music (from a film)

You can laugh your spineless laugh

We hope your rules and wisdom choke you

Now we are one in ever lasting peace

We hope that you choke, that you choke

We hope that you choke, that you choke

Crowded House - Italian Plastic

When you wake up with me
Ill be your glass of water
When you stick up for me
The youre my bella bambina

Beverley Knight - Keep this fire buring

For me it must be the following from "There is a light that never goes out" by the Smiths. Pure genius.

"And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine"

Written down it looks thoroughly depressing, but the song is a rare work of beauty.

Will Smith AKA Fresh Prince - Theme tune for The Prince of Bel Air

Now this is the story all about how
My life got flipped, turned upside down
And Id like to take a minute just sit right there
Ill tell you how I became the prince of a town called bel-air

In west philadelfia born and raised
On a playground where I spent most of my days
Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool
And all Shooting some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys who were up to no good
Started making trouble in my neighbourhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
And said youre moving with your auntie and uncle in bel-air

I whistled for a cab and when it came near the
Licensplate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror
If anything I could say that this cab was rare
But I thought now forget it, yo home to bel-air

I pulled up to a house about seven or eight
And I yelled to the cabby yo, home smell you later
Looked at my kingdom I was finally there
To settle my throne as the prince of bel-air

I'm obviously older than the posters here, my fav song of all time is "Smile" a cover version of which has just recently been made by boyband Westlife.

The song believe it or not, was written by Charlie Chaplin
Pigs on the Wing (Part One)

If you didn't care what happened to me,
And I didn't care for you,
We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain.
Wondering which of the buggars to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing.

Not that I'm a huge fan but these lyrics just hit it home for me.

Man in the Mirror - Michael Jackson

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change

All of Joanna Newsom's lyrics are really descriptive and she uses words you never really hear.  Listen to anything of hers.

The sight of briges and balloons
makes calm canaries irritable;
they caw and claw all afternoon:
"Catenaries and dirigibles
brace and buoy the living-room --
a loom of metal, warp - woof - wimble."
And a thimblesworth of milky moon
can touch hearts larger than a thimble

or

Never get so attached to a poem
you forget truth that lacks lyricism

or

And Gabriel stands beneath forest and moon.
See them rattle & boo, see them shake, see them loom.
See him fashion a cap from a page of Camus;
see him navigate deftly this side of the blue.

Lovely!!

Halo by Depeche Mode

You wear guilt like shackles on your feet

like a halo in reverse

Gotta be The Littlest Hobo...

Maybe tomorrow- I'll wanna settle down

But until tomorrow - the whole world is my home!

I thought it was (Littlest Hobo)

There's a voice keeps on calling me

Down the road, that's where I'll always be

Every step I take, I make a new friend

Something, something, something, something again

Maybe tomorrow I'll wanna settle down

Until tomorrow I'll just keep moving on"

"McArthur's Park" sung by Richard Harris in the 60's. Makes no sense now but then it meant everything to me - maybe I was the only one!!
The last verse of the Hobo song changes - you're right for the main chorus though- so we're both right. Yay us!
That brought back some memories of being on a sickie from school and watching that!
