trying to record from keyboard

i'm trying to put my keyboard piece onto computer, i plugged a cable into headphone socket of the keyboard and the other end into the computer via an adapter. my recording software is fine and im sure its configured correctly for line in but its not picking up any sound from the keyboard.  can someone explain wht i'm doing wrong?

Have you turned it on ??? :-)

Has you keyboard got a 5 pin din plug ?  I don't really know, but that might be a better link.  Does your keyboard have MIDI on it ?

Also, what sound card are you using in your computer ?

Check with your supplier, you may need to upgrade to a better sound card or buy an external one.

The soundcard in you hard drive may not be powerful enough.  A couple of years ago, I tried wiring a mini disc to my computer, but couldn't get a decent sound when I tried to transfer music from MD to the computer.

I was told to upgrade or buy an external sound card, this is what I think the problem may actually be.
