Is it just me?
How come nowadays, in order to prove how comitted you are to something, you have to give at LEAST 110%!!
I've heard people offering to give 150% on the apprentice, even 200% in some instances!
I'm glad I'm not after the same job, as my offer of 100% committment would seem pretty lame!
It's driving me mad!
It doesn't help my kids, when they're told by their maths teacher that you can never have more than 100% of anything, and then some thicko on the telly says "Well, I did my best, I gave it 140%" !

i think you are 101% right
What annoys me is when folk say something is, for example, tens times less than it was before or A is ten times less likely to happen than B. What they mean is it's a tenth of what it was and B is ten times more likely than A..
76% would agree with you, 22% would disagree, and the other 17% haven't got a clue.
Personally I think it makes someone look like a numpty.

I often say to my team that I need full (or 100%) commitment to get this done etc, if I turned to them and said I need 140% I am quite sure they would think I was a knob. It is more or less saying that their usual 100% is below par.

100% would seem sufficient in capacity for anyone with even a little attention span.

100% is meaningless without specifying precisely, a percentage of what? 150% of your all? What is that?
200% of nothing is still nothing.
How exactly can you measure an intangible concept, such as commitment, in numerical terms anyway?
I totally agree crisgal. 100% is the maximun percentage. It's like saying "to infinity ........and then tagging on .....and beyond!"
crisgal

totally agree

dont get me started on annoying stuff, I'll be here for weeks! per cent as I'm sure everyone is aware means per hundred

Just popping in to say I'm loving the ever increasing use of the word "numpty".
