Oh my, this happened to my sister. She had a bill for over 200. BT told her that she had to pay it! So she did, but changed to Talk Talk.

I know it is an internet scam of sum description, some ISP in Mallorca, however i dont know where i i stand if i refuse to pay it...?
you can get BT to block premium rate calls 090 free of chage and for a quarterly chage they will block international calls. quick fix: unplug you computer from the telephone line when you are not using the net. its almost certainly a dialer do the following two steps install/update your antivirus and do a full system scan. Install Spybot search and destroy (google for spybot) update it and scan your pc with this as well - this will remove a lot of spyware and probably speed up your machine as well. some shareware software needs its spyware to run correctly if after running spybot you find something is not working and you are sure you really need it just reinstall it

I also get plagued by 419 (advance fee) email fraudsters.

I just ask them to call me on my personal mobile and give them an 09 number!

in regards to the above question there is not very much that can be done. as advised in some of the above answers all you can do is get bt to put a premium rate call barring, which is free and does work on the 090 numbers. then you needs to contact icstis who is the governing body of the premium rate calls, to get these looked into.
