this is a complicated mess of a question which an elderly lady has asked me to help with

she has six clues and from each four letter answer she has to take a specified letter to form the name of a fruit.. I've tried to do it but there aren't that many six letter fruits! I can think of banana, orange, lychee but none fit the answers we've got.
Here is what we've got:
pop group=BAND - second letter -A
marquee=TENT - second letter =E
society dance=BALL -- second letter A
lacking hair= BALD - third letter - L
Curve in road- BEND - third letter - N
Looking after = TEND/CARE - first letter so either T or C

So we have A, E, A, L, N and either T or C
but can't find a fruit.

Some of our answers may be wrong but I can't think of any other alternatives.

I know it's a real jumble but can any of you bright sparks help me to sort it out please?
Thank you

there are other six letter fruits

quince
cherry
loquat
pawpaw
papaya
pomelo

that doesn`t help us though, will keep my thinking cap on

Should have thought of cherry but wouldn't have thought of the others.

I'm leaning towards it being banana as we have two As and an N but then have to find appropriate answers to the other clues.
Hope your thinking cap is more clued up than mine!
I wonder if they could be looking for the name of a pop group - eg ABBA, Wham, or .... PULP. This would give you a 'U' instead of an 'A', and the answer could then be either peanut or walnut if you can find an alternative word for either tent or bald. I've had quite a good think and I can't.
Further thoughts .... looking after could be 'mind' ... you'd then have a fair numbers of letters for medlar or almond.

no, I can't think of alternatives for TENT or BALD either.
May have to admit defeat!
Thank you for your help.
Merry Christmas to you all/

Shoemad - What about this answer to your elderly lady (assuming that I have understood the question)?
B from ball, A from bald, N from bend, A from care, N from tent and A from band, that is BANANA.
