(I could have posted this in A & N, but thought I would get a more amusing response here.)

Only, when I feed my cat, I ask her if she is hungry, then show her 2 whiskas sachets and ask her to choose which one she wants. It's strange, but she actually does choose one of them.
Is it just me that is a bit soft in the head? Or do any of you do it too?

Okay...........................

It must just be me then. :-(
nipping out for half an hour, just chat amongst yourselves then.
Feel free..............any topic.

Hi dina - our 2 cats are extremely spoilt and I always talk to them in fact all 5 of us in the family do - however I'm not going on record with what I say LOL
Question Author
lol carrot.
More than likely.
I talk to our darling cat, Little Bob, all the time......he's been deaf for the last year:o)
shamefully i will admit i did that with my cats and my dog :O)
LOL.......yes I do.....2 cats.

HOWEVER, I always know when Mrs sqad is talking to the cats, she is quiet and pleasant, compared to the confrontational, aggressive way she speaks to me.
All the time Dina, I'm sure they think I'm a nutter
One of our cats actually plays fetch. If you throw the red ring from the top of the milk for her she will bring it back and drop it at your feet and wait for it to be thrown again. Our male cat tries to copy her and will fetch it but run off to the top of the stairs and fire it out of his mouth with his paw so he can chase it downstairs.
peri.....woooow!!
We used to talk to our Lab Bruno all the time - he was part of the family. He knew exactly what we were saying, and uncannily - what we were feeling, especially if one of us were sad :-(
I talk to my Dogs Max and Bingo all the time and also to my cat Tom, the only time anyone should be concerned is when they think their pets are talking back to them. Strangely I also talked to the tropical fish when they were alive, I am going to get the tank established again soon, no doubt i will witter the new ones to death aswell!

Hi Dina , yes I live alone so my poor pets get a bit of an ear bending at times . At the moment I have only one dog but can't talk almost at all now so she looks at me and she'a reallly trying to hear if she can pick up any key words from my babble , such as foody woody , hungry , walk , sausage , out...........

Hi, I'm back.

salla, my cat knows if I'm not feeling too good. If I have a headache, she first comes and looks at me right in the eye, then rubs her head againgst mine.
Strange, or what?
Question Author
pericat, you have a very talented cat there. :-)
dot......yes, I do understand and I do the same, but I feel that our Guppy is deaf. I say to him "blubb! bluubb!" but he doesn't respond. Of course he could be a Northern Irish Guppy, so I will try " Tis, tis blaab! blaab!" and see if he will respond.
I love to hear people talking about their pets like this - I was told by my 16 year old not long ago that nobody else talks to their pets quite like we do - so I feel a little less mad now - thank you all
Question Author
I agree pericat, I thought it was just me too!..................lol.

Sqad, my Mum had a fishtank with large cichlids and one (I think called a red-head) used to come to the front of the tank and it looked like it was shouting 'MUM!'
we kids used to laugh, and she would then feed it.
:-)
