Citroen is a company that has always been at the forefront of technological advances and creativity. They were one of the first manufacturers outside of the USA to make mass produced cars. Citroen introduced the world to the first mass produced front wheel drive car and are still leading the way in innovation.

The Brake Fleet Safety Forum Awards for Excellence has judged Citroen the winner of the Vehicle Manufacture Safety category. The C6 was singled out for praise by Brake, one of the UK's most prominent safety charities, for its pop-up bonnet which absorbs impact in case of pedestrian impact.

"Brake believes vehicle manufacturers have a responsibility to continually research and develop innovations to help make our roads safer for everyone," says the head of education for the charity.

"We also believe that fleet operators have a responsibility to choose the safest possible vehicles for the sake of their drivers and the communities in which they operate. For these reasons we were delighted to honour Citroen, and in particular it’s groundbreaking C6."

Other notable safety features available on the new C6, which is the first car ever to achieve maximum Euro NCAP ratings for both pedestrian safety and adult occupant protection, include a Lane Departure Warning System, Directional Headlamps, a ‘Head-Up’ Display, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Emergency Braking Assistance, nine airbags and Active Head Restraints – many of these features are also available on other Citroen models.
