I have recently taken delivery of a VW Polo with Ipod fitting. However it will not charge my 8gb Ipod Nano. Is there a fault that can be fixed?

Is it supposed to charge the ipod, it may only play ipod. Check manual/dealer.

Thanks but I have checked manual that says it should charge and the dealer who doesn't know why it fails to. The purpose of my question is to find out if there is any reason why it doesnt'.
I have checked the Ipod software is up to date.
