Today (Feb 14th) the penalty points for speeding come off my husbands Driving Licence.
Will the DVL inform him, Does he have to send it in? How will it show he's clear now. Does he have to phone someone?
Help someone.....

I'm assuming the date of his offence was 14/02/2004. If it was 14/02/2005, they must stay on for a further year, although they are no longer valid for totting-up purposes. Other than that, nothing will happen. If he wants to get them actually removed, he can send in his licence and apply for a new one. That will cost him. The vast majority of people don't bother doing anything. Any police officer asking to see his licence in future won't take spent convictions into consideration before deciding whether to proceed with a prosecution (Or that's what they tell us).

Thankyou CJP.
His offence was 2005, thinking it was a 3 year stint he phoned them up a few monthe ago and they said it used to be 3 years but now its 4, and the points would come off in Feb. 2009. Thats his 4 years. Are you now saying it is 5 years?.

No, I can't add up. Should have said 2006, not 2005. Sorry for the confusion
