To supervise a learner driver you must be over 21 and have held your license for 3 years - but do you have to be insured on the car that the learner is using (assuming that the learner is insured on that car)? Wasn't sure what section to put this is - sorry

I'm pretty sure the answer to that is no, providing you are a full license holder for three years you can supervise a learner in any vehicle they are legally able to drive
If you are in Ireland, the qualified driver merely has to be IN the car while you are driving, irrespective of whether they are a) asleep b) drunk c) having sex d) you get the picture
Not sure of the specific answer, but if the "supervisor" has an insurance policy of their own, it is highly likely that they are insured to drive any car. May be 3rd party only but this makes them legal to drive. Sorry if this is not relevant but it's all I have!
No you don't. Sadly you do have to be a/awake b/sober c/not having sex d/ I wish I was in Ireland
