If someone parks a car over your front gate (which is the only access to your property) and severely limits your ability to get things, such as boxes &pushchairs in - is it illegal and what can I do about it? Also, is it legal to wheelclamp it if I have a sign up stating the fact?

Sorry, should have been more specific maybe. The car was parked on the pavement and across the gate (if that makes sense). The pavement hasn't been lowered as such, but it is low enough not to be a proper 'kerb' as such.
It is illegal to park on the pavement - even just two wheels (unless there is a proper sign indicating parking on the pavement is allowed).

Phone the police - take a photo if you like.
You cannot wheelclamp another person's car that is not on your own property unless you are licenced.

get real ethel. if someone parked their car in front of my driveway id set the peice of s h i t on fire
Get two neighbours/friends to park front and back of it to block it in
It's not a drive - it's pedestrian access.

Can't you understand the written word?
