Apart from getting crushed, what are the consequences of having no car tax?I car share with my sister as we work at the same company and she is so lazy and conveniently keeps 'forgetting' to get it done. If the car's insurance becomes invalid, then i will refuse to get in it as she is not the best driver in the world...

Lack of car tax does not mean the car is not insured, it does however mean that the Insurers will use it as an excuse to not pay.
having no tax,in certain council areas, can lead to the car being taken away and crushed, but as loosehead says it does not render the car uninsured, but again as he says,if you did have a accident and they found out,i doubt you would be paid out.
Lack of car tax means the car is not allowed on the public highway and can be removed and destroyed without any warning.
If you car share, why don't you get the car taxed?
pretty simple stuff hey errico. Taxing your car is no exactly difficult. If you mate is to lazy to tax then you should either tax it or get public transport.

So if your forgetting the tax what about the MOT?

No MOT no insurance!!
