Parking ticket problem

Hi all, please help !
I've received a letter about a parking fine which I know nothing about ! They say I ignored their demand for 60 and have increased it to 90. My car has never had a parking ticket put on it, and I've definitely never had a letter in the post. What can I do ? If I'd have known about this I'd have paid straight away. Typically you can't ring up and talk to anyone, everything is automated.

Google your local council authority who are responsible for parking you should get contact numbers there.
Misty,
were you there at the said time and date they stated, If you don't know the date, time and whereabouts find out,
I only ask this incase someone has cloned your car, parked illegally and you have got the ticket
Also ask to see a copy of the letter that was supposedly sent. I was under the impression that correspondence regarding fines and such like went recorded delivery so that there would be a record of your acceptance or otherwise of delivery

No, I wasn't there at the time. I got back to my car and drive off. The first thing I knew about it was the letter received on Sat upping the fine to 90.00
Sorry misty, I ment was the car there at the time, but I can see now that it was.
Keeprockin, they are not sent recorded delivery - however it does seem as though the senders regard proof of posting (if there is any that is) as proof of reciept.
Most companys that leave a ticket on your car take a photo so ask for a copy
