astra auto 1995/6 problem with gearbox

bought an astra auto a week ago and it seems to be stuck in sport mode as the light is flashing on the dashboard.
Is it easy to fix or is it a major job ,I can do most general repairs myself is it something that has to be taken into Vauxhall or a normal garage??

Try a normal garage first, could be a lot cheaper, it might even be a small electrical problem.
