Has every motorist left their brain at home today?
Near miss # 1. Old duffer towing a horse box turned right, across my path, into a petrol station. I was like Fred Flintstone trying to stop the car. I made enquiries as to the state of his eyesight.
Near miss # 2. Old dear in an Avensis cutting a corner. If I didn't go through the nettles she'd have taken my mirror off.
Near miss # 3. Young woman in a 206 overtaking a tractor coming towards me on a blind bend. If it wasn't for the ABS and ESP on my car it would have ended in tears.
Near miss # 4. In the outside lane of a dual carriageway, the chap I am passing decides to move to the outside lane without looking, only abandoning his notion after my horn alerts him to the fact there is no gap for him to move into. But only just.

Now I do a very high mileage, around 50,000 per year, but never have I witnessed such a vast amount of poor driving as I did on this particular day.

IMO more traffic police are needed, instead of cameras that only catch speeders.

Oh!....thought it was just me!.....had so many near misses this week!l.........not my fault honestly!....I put it down to living in a holiday resort anf folki being in holiday mode!...but it's been awful!....
It would appear the clowns are everywhere, we have just got back from Keswick and the impatient idiots with a death wish are out there, it was pitch black and raining heavy yet they overtake at the most ridiculous places or tailgate until they do. I want a humvee!
Some police are just as bad though. Ive been cut up by a number of police cars, most recently on a roundabout where I was obviously invisible (I even made sure I was definitely using correct indicators! Which I was) and the stupid guy pulled right out meaning I had to slam on my breaks or risk going into the side of them x
I was going to say "I can't drive" - but obviously neither can many road users. They don't seem to realise that not only do they kill themselves but they can eliminate an entire family with their actions.
I must add no flashing lights on the police cars. So was not me in the wrong x

I was behind a really old duffer going to Tesco. Through several junctions, not a single indication. When he wanted to turn right he just stopped in the middle of the road. No indication, no nothing.

We both ended up in Tesco. Over the potatoes I asked him if he knew how the indicators on a Corsa worked. He said 'yes'. I then asked him if he would like me to get the indicators on his Corsa mended, as they obviously didn't work.

He didn't have a clue what I was on about, so that matched his knowledge of the rules of the road, ie nil.
It's sort of on a similar note but driving down to London on the M40 yesterday there were three occasions where I noticed a car ahead of me indicating as if they were planning on changing lanes, however they didn't change lanes. They just hadn't realised their indicator was still flashing from their previous manouvre.

Considering that when you have an indicator going you have a light flashing on your dashboard and the clicking noise inside the car, how loud must the music be in the car to to hear it and how little attention are these drivers paying not to notice the dashboard light. It's worrying how oblivious some drivers are not only to what is going on around them but even inside their own vehicle.
Is it Sunday?

I too drive mileages Mon to Fri in my job as a field service engineer but hate driving at weekends. I always question where all the idiots come from and where are they during the week.Four near misses on a Sunday doesn't really surprise me.
Sounds like a normal day for me, on a bike!!
Ah you too spotted the madness late Sunday night eh ? I was stressed out by the number of morons I had to put up with on my motorway journey. That said I think the idiots have been increasing in numbers this last few weeks. Unsure why. Maybe they'll go again as the summer comes to an end.
this happened to me the other day...it seemed that one after the other motorists would pull out in front of me causing me to have to brake sharply

weird
