New Year Get Away
33 Answers
If your friend said that he wanted to book Egypt for him, you and another mate for New Year, Half Board, 5 nights leaving on 31st Dec for £169 would you go?
I could in theory, no massive work commitments, no family obligations, my GF is happy for me to go (as long as I take her away for her birhtday in Feb).
I could easily wash, iron and pack 5 days worth of clothing. My travel insurance is in date... What is stopping me?? I just cant commit to it for some reason.
Shall I go for it????

Are you in badly need of a break and want something a little more relaxed then go but if you're after all the bells and whistles of the usual new years vibe then maybe there are better destinations. Also try and not listen to the Jaws soundtrack before you go swimming there! :)
I have never been to Egypt, researched it breifly earlier in the year. It will be in Sharm, a fairly low key 4* hotel. Wont be a crazy holiday, just a bit of R+R I would imagine. Could be the best or worst thing I ever do, but I do like to know what I am getting involved in before I commit. He wants to book asap, the second guy has said no - so feel obliged now!

Not been to Sharm but have been further along the Red Sea in February.
It's nice and warm although not scrorching - Sharm's a major diving centre of course and with all the publicity about now probably get a few bargains if you fancy trying that out.
No problems with booze or anything like that.
carpe diem

I went to Marsa Alam...I was led to believe that it had shops, cafes, bars etc....what they didn't mention was that they were all part of the hotel and the nearest town was a 40min drive away.
Saying that, as there wasn't much to do it's the first holiday I've come back from feeling totally refreshed.
