Similar .. Golf is more homely .. comfortable .. if you ask me!
Passat is utilitarian, but still ok.
Now an A4 is a different matter.

have to agree with Al here, Audi's are by far better than vw's (even though vw own them).
they are comfy, plenty of room

thanks guys, sorry but i meant under the bonnet and the controls etc

i bought a manual off ebay and the tips and maintenance section was missing,, so the seller wants to send me the section from a golf manual insetad of the passat, as he says they are identical...but a passat estate auto is surely different from a golf isnt it?

they'll be pretty much the same.
engine will be same, maybe a control layout different or something, but overall should be the same.
