anyone pay to update map for your tom tom?

I've just won one in a competition and when I registered it updated automatically. Is there a way to get the updates free? The site said up dates are available every three months and I don't fancy paying out all the time

Tes I did, don't know as though I would again though, I Did have full coverage of Europe on mine then when I last upgraded ( the 2nd of 4) for the year the maps were going to take so much roomI only now have 1/4 of the map coverage. I was aware of this before I downloaded, however the down load did not go smoothly and after being on the phone for almost an hour trying to sort it out , which I did, I then found that all my favourites had been lost, Not impressed !! Plus considering it was an upgrade there is a roundabout near me that has been there for at least 5 years and that is not on the map
