What is the strangest thing you've "inherited" when moving to a new house?

We moved into a house and found a bird of prey in the freezer. The previous occupants were keen on taxidermy and the bird had flown into the patio doors and died. They were intending to have it stuffed.

They'd stored it in an old freezer in the garage, but never got round to taking it to the taxidermist. I rang them up to tell them what I'd found, and they called back to collect it.

Nooby, they left it because they didn't want it at their new house - the flippin' thing packed up within a few weeks of us moving in and we had to dispose of it ourselves. (There was another - integrated - freezer in the kitchen).
or maybe one of these.

Yes nooby, I looked in the freezer and the Co-op book. The book was quite interesting. Only an old chap's shopping lists .... but interesting to read the sort of stuff that folk bought back in those days. I can't return the book to him as he's deceased. In fact, he died in the house we bought.
noobydo, i dont know, it was 23 years ago. my bird found it, we read it together, it was a very sad letter about a man with nothing to live 4, we just found it too sad to keep and binned it
when I moved into my flat as I was putting furniture together I kept hearing a scratching noise, it carried on a coupl of days and I realised it was coming from a vent in bedroom that was at back of chimney breast. so I thought a rat or mouse was in there and thought well I cant leave it there because of it dies it will stink, so I got my dad to come over. He unscrewed the vent and I stood by the door ready to run away and as he took vent off a little head poked out, it was a pigeon. So I kept him in the bath for a bit until we found the owners, he was a racing pigeon so didnt take long for him to be picked up. He'd been missing for months.

4get, how nice that the poor thing survived!
slightly off subject, mrs.c, when I was looking for a house I viewed one that was boarded up and had been used as a squat. when I went up the stairs I was quite surprised to see a hanged Barbie type doll, with a (human!) bra strap around her neck, the bra being suspended from the loft hatch.
he wouldnt fly or eat, I kept putting food out for him but he wouldnt take it. When bloke came to pick him up he said no they usually only eat rice, fussy little bugger.
