Hi folks, hope your all well.

Im thinking about buying a second hand 4x4 but not sure what! Im not wanting to spend a fortune, maybe about 2000 - 2500. I defintately don't want a Land Rover - im after something a bit more sporty looking e.g. Vauxhall Frontera. Is there any that people would recommend? The more features and cheaper it is to run the better!

Thanks

I would recommend that you steer well clear of the frontera, which has a reputation for being unreliable and badly built, as well as nasty to drive. For the kind of money you want to spend you are going to be hard pressed to get anything much I would think, especially with "more features" as you put it. The best of the so called 'soft roaders' is probably the Toyota Rav4, and you might find one of those in your price bracket. If it were my money I would definately get an old Land-Rover, a bit crude, but so much class! Oh, and I dont think that any 4x4 will ever be cheap to run, they weigh to much for that!

My husband has had a Land Rover Discovery TDi for 6 years. Apart from being a bit heavy on diesel, it is very reliable & brilliant to drive.
