On my way home last night.. a woman was driving along in the middle lane.. overtaking nothing...

I drove up behind her in the middle lane.... and flashed at her to 'KINDLY PULL OVER cos you are in the overtaking lane and overtaking nuffin'....

She looked in her mirror at me.. waved her arms about - and stayed put!!!

WHAT ON EARTH did she mean by waving her arms at me eh???

She really obviously thought she was perfectly right to be in that lane!!!

Dont you sometimes wish you were an unmarked cop car!!!!

Most of them are frankly too incompetent to drive on motorways, and stay there because they are frightened of lorries.
what speed where you/her going? Why did you flash? what was on the left? generally flashing someone induces rage, you must know that, why did you not use the outside lane, ie the O V E R T A K I N G lane not hard is it? If you are not dawdling the middle lane is the correct lane.
I would have just taken over in the fast lane.
Wrong, as usual Geezer
If the slow lane is empty Geezer why wouldn't you drive in it?
Highway Code Rule 264

You should always drive in the left-hand lane when the road ahead is clear. If you are overtaking a number of slower-moving vehicles, you should return to the left-hand lane as soon as you are safely past. Slow-moving or speed-restricted vehicles should always remain in the left-hand lane of the carriageway unless overtaking
I wouldnt have driven up behind her flashing my lights, how rude!, I would have overtaken her on the overtaking lane.

maybe instead of questioning her driving you should have a closer look at yours..
No panic, right, as usual idiot sheep go with what they think is correct but in reality they are wrong. Ok I'm talking about if you are going over 70.

1 if the left hand lane is empty then the middle is the safest faster drivers can overtake either side.

2. If the left is busy then it is very dangerous to zig zag up the road so stay in the middle.

ie drive in the middle, end of.

Conventional opinion on this is totally wrong.

yes agree panic, they are both at fault, 2 wrongs do not make a right though.
'faster drivers can overtake either side.'

Wrong again, R1Geezer
The highway code is flawed in this respect.
It's still the rules though.
"If you are going over 70... drivers can overtake either side"

Safety indeed!
Highway Code Rule 268

Do not overtake on the left or move to a lane on your left to overtake......
Oh dear I'm really dealing with pygmies here. derrr. if you are in a lane and you come up to some slower traffic on the right you can go past. If you change lanes to the left in order to overtake then that is wrong. You really need to learn some road craft.
We all know that it means do not move into the left lane to overtake. We can't control the speed of other lanes.
Oh dear. This idiot doesn't know the laws of the road
The police have pulled over many a motorist for staying put in the middle lane for no apparent reason. They don't get a fine just an educational lesson on how to drive on a motorway. There is no slow lane ummmm.
Nosha, perhaps you should examine your own driving before criticising others. IMO people who are of the opinion that their driving is perfection are generally over confident and therefore dangerous.
