Can anyone, including me, find out if a car is subject to an HP Agreement from the DVLA?

Thank you for that daily ed. I have been getting help in the "Law" section of AB as a Bailiff took my car and said he had checked with the DVLA and there was no HP on our car. Then despite us having an e mail from the FC confirming that it did belong to them, he refused to look at it and took the car anyway.
chrissa1- I'm not sure we have all the info we need. For example are you sure it was HP? Why did the Finance Company own it?
You may need a solicitor to unpick this.
We check with HPI at work before we lift cars chrissa - it's a good site, but you'll have to pay I think
