Most wipers have a self-parking mechanism. It seems that this has stopped working in yours.

Inside the wiper motor is an electric switch, operated by a cam. The switch is on whenever the wipers are off the parked position. Yours is not working. Time to get the tools out, and change the wiper motor, as, in my experience, trying to repair the insides of the motor rarely gives a lasting result.

Just another thought, the live feed to the afore-mentioned self-park switch, is via a separate wire to the one from your wiper operating switch. Check the fuse for this feed, or see if it's loose/broken. You'll probably need the wiring diagram to locate it.
