My driving photo driving license expires on 7th December but I am moving house on 18th December so it would be pointless me getting new license just to change my address after 18th. I can’t get it before 7th December in case they send it to new house. What I need to know is if I don’t get it renewed until 18th am I still licensed to drive and insured?

i would send off for it on the 18th. If you get stopped between the 7th and 18th then say it has been sent off.

I know someone who moved into a flat same time as you did and never did change their driving licence til 2 weeks ago :)

of course, you could call the DVLA and ask what they suggest

well I only just changed license address about a year ago and got new card for free and now to get new photo I have to pay £20.00!!
Question Author
would seem I am still valid to drive it is just the photo that has expired not my license
If you wait until you can use your new address you can change the licence and Photo for nowt! Ie go for change of address and supply a new photo.

Really?? But I have to fill in the form for new photo that they have sent and attach a cheque
Whenever a new photo is required (i.e. every 10 years) a payment must be made regardless if it is in conjunction with an otherwise free change of name or address. The only time no fee is needed is if you have a medical short period licence or you’re aged 70 or over.
yep sorry, you are correct, dosh required!
