Hi. We have a one year old Whirlpool washing machine that keep blowing a fuse. It is the fuse in the wall, not on the plug or machine. It doesnt blow whilst the machine is running. It seems to be when you go to turn the machine on, it just doesnt work, but if you change the 13 amp fuse in the wall above it, it's fine. When I say wall fuse, I mean the switch on the wall that just has a switch and a pull out section for the fuse. Any ideas?

We had the same problem once, although with a different make machine. It was a dodgy comutator, I think that's the part that turns inside the motor. It was much older than a year though.
That's a "fused spur" Wangy........................... if it's blowing a 13amp, then, as pete says, there is likely to be a fault in the machine
More than likely the machine, but have you tried plugging something else in that requires a large load (electricaly). A kettle/ toaster
does it blow the fuse as soon as it's turned on, or at a particular point in the cycle?

If it's at a certain point in the cycle that is a very good indication of what the fault is

(my gut feeling would be the heating element first, but that is a educated guess)

No, it is when you go to turn it on, it doesnt come on. Change the fuse and it works fine, until the next time. It never blows whilst its on.
