For the last few weeks my 02 reg Corsa's exhaust has been blowing. It's been running ok with no loss of power at all.

Now my engine mangement light has come on, well I think it's that. It's an orange car with a spanner in it?

Could this be on because of the exhaust system? Would it be safe to run to work with it or is this light a "WARNING GET IT FIXED NOW"?

That in-turn is telling you the Co Emissions are not right. your car is not running as it should.
Get it fixed sooner rather than later. If your blowing exhaust is confusing the lamda sensor, then you risk overfuelling and burning out the cat :(
