I see more and more bicylce lanes taking up more and more of the roads. I also see cars ****** in those bicylce lanes.

There must be some sort of restriction about use of these bicycle lanes..................

Does anyone know the complete story?

It is becoming impossible for me not to park in them, so would appreciate it if someone could adise me, before I get a parking ticket

Thanks
Seems life is changing faster than I can keep up

get real most of the little J Arthurs ride on the kin pavement anyway!
If they have the money to paint out cycle lanes off the backs of the motorist road tax & give cyclist the RIGHT to the road, the cyclist should also pay road tax for the use of the highway it's as simple as that.
If the cycle line is separated from the main highway by a solid white line exactly the same rule applies as anywhere else where an area to the side of the road is bordered by such a line (e.g. a hatched area with a solid boundary where a slip road joins a main carriageway). i.e. it's an offence to cross the line (other than to, say, access a driveway or a side turning) irrespective of whether the vehicle is to be parked or not.

A broken white line is only an advisory marking for a cycle lane.

Well I'll go to the foot of our stairs, Buenchico

Thanks very much. I tried to google an answer but the result was very helpful

So, I would imagine, when you park in a cycle lane, you are liable to get a ticket, if a traffic warden comes by; unless they enforce the cycle lane parking as strictly as they do the Handicapped Parking. An awful lot of non-handicapped people seem to use those spaces

What happens if there are signs restricting the Bus Lane operating as such between certain hours, e.g. Buses/Taxis/bicycles only between 0730 and 0930, but the lane is still marked with a solid white line? This is the case in Sheffield, around Cambridge and local to myself in Leicestershire.
