Nissan gearbox problem

Hi I have a 2000 x reg Nissan almera 1500 cc and 1st gear is terrible to get into ,it takes a good few trys to get in ,once in there are no noises and is fine, all other gears are OK to get into . what do you think the fault is ? do I need to get another gearbox ? thanks Phil

1.Check your clutch pedal free play.
2.Check out engaging gear 3 from stationary.If it feels same as gear 1 could be low gear level.
3. How is change down from 2 to 1 while car in motion? if it is same as from stationary, you my have worn out gear 1 syncro. Drain a little gear oil in clear container look out for shiny copper/bronze fillings in oil. look out for other metalic particles on the drain plug magnet. If the gear oil looks dirty you may get away with just an oil change!!!!
4.Are you experiencing early signs of clutch slipping?
