Has anyone on here cycled the Scarborough to Whitby cycleway. Its an old railway line 18miles long and apparently quite rough in parts. Dont know if my bike will stand up to the terraine. I have cycled long distances like this before but its the state of the cycleway Im worried about.

I've walked it several times, not all at once I may add, you'll have no problem at all on a bike. It will be a great cycle ride. The scenery is beautiful and the track will be easy riding.

Thanks Yorky Lass

I think we will be doing it one fine weekend. We`ll now have to sort out taking 2 bikes on the train from Bridlington to Scarborough, then we`ll cycle to Whitby and stay overnight somewhere and then reverse the journey on Sunday providing there are trains back on Sun otherwise we`ll be cycling all the way back !!

Thanks again
You will be cycling all the way back.
There is no train line between Whitby & Scarborough.
Burston means he'll be cycling back if there are no trains to get him back from Scarborough to Bridlington on Sunday. Which there will be by the way.
He knows there there is no train line between Whitby and Scarborough because he is cycling on it.

Thanks for clearing that up for me YorkyLass. I hope I dont have to cycle all the way back but I was only thinking that on a Sunday in winter the trains are few a far between from Scarb to Brid and you have to make sure you catch the last one.
Maybe I`ll leave it till next summer anyway
Thanks for your concern mrs overall
